I’m all about dismantling the influence and soft power of Westernization/Secularism in the Muslim world and I think one of the most effective means of doing so is by banning the English (or any Western language) language from being taught in our countries. I cringe when I hear some stories about local Somalis who were born and raised back home insult other Somalis who were born and raised back home but do not speak English. If we adopt their culture (which includes language) then it creates an inferiority complex in many Muslims who will seek to imitate Westerners in dress, customs and of course, attitudes and beliefs which run contrary to Islamic values and beliefs. European armies might have pulled their armies out of many Muslim countries and granted them “independence” but there’s even a worst plague that’s worst than military colonialism, it is the colonialism of the mind.

The English language is not necessary to teach in Muslim countries. All the scientific, philosophical and necessary knowledge that is produced in the English language should be translated in Somali and especially Arabic Fusha (classical/modern standard Arabic).

Fusha Arabic (Classical/modern standard Arabic) should be the lingua franca of every Muslim just like Hebrew is the lingua franca of every Jew. The Arabic language is a symbol of Islam and it should be prioritized over every other foreign language.

How can you just ban a language when the internet exists. Alot of people in third world countries learn English through the internet by watching shows/videos.

I don’t mean ban as in having it legally banned to speak or learn it, I mean we should discourage it’s use in public life and we should ban it being taught in most education institutions. Only Somali and Arabic should be taught in schools.

Terrible take i don't understand this obsession with attacking education this is not how islam gains power. We need to be the best do you understand how dumb it is to ban english and limit access to knowledge all the Digital databases filled with science and math. Banning English would be of no help. It is the lingua franca for the last 100 years. There is also so much benefit in being an English speaker with access to so many beneficial ideas, especially if you are a student/academic. I understand how speaking english can be seen as a tool of westernization. I remember reading something where they showed south African and Kenyan university students share more similarities in opinion to American college students than the poor of their own country. There is a global homogenization of attitudes which was once spearheaded by the success of Hollywood and now with the internet. The average person is now exposed to obscure internet subcultures. As we move towards a digital lifestyle, we will relate more and more with the people on our screens than those around us physically.

I am trying to learn fusha arabic so I could understand the Quran better and classical Islamic texts. I feel like I am cutoff from my own religious tradition- I hate the feeling of not understanding my own prayers. Sometimes I would make dua in English - for sincerity. Any recommendations to learn fusha?
