Human rights watch has documented Hospitals being burned and civilians being killed. The government isn't losing any support internationally unlike how Myanmar lost support. Turkey even noted that the Government is drone striking civilians yet they still give Abiy Drones and ammunition.
IMF/World Bank and USA sees the government mass killing Amhara civilians and they just don't care at all.
Also I haven't really seen any indication that Fano want their own country and even if they did want their own country Fano wants to take parts of Oromia and Tigray and Benishangul Gumuz region so even still there would be no peace as independent states.
Erodogan isn't siding with Ethiopia. He is playing diplomacy because Turkey has interests in both countries and @TekNiKo is talking nonsense with the title. What Erdogan is referring to is Ethiopia being a large populated country that is essentially landlocked in the context of it meeting its needs to commercial access. He is not saying it has supremacy over Somalia or humiliating Somalia.
And Soviet didn't side with Ethiopia because it was a stable or more powerful. When Soviet switched over Ethiopia was militarily weakened, riddled with internal insurgencies , economy & industry basically abysmal , 90% illiterate backwards semi feudal and were even pre-occupied with fighting Eritrea
It switched over for ideological and strategic reasons, it wanted a naval base in the Eritrea coast and saw it as more committed to the communist ideology than Somalia.
Ethiopia has never been powerful at all, its always was a ''paper tiger'' and power or stability was never a reason for any country that lended it support to them. It was either religious/ideological or strategic consideration.

During 77 war Somalia was intact and stable, Ethiopia was racked with civil war yet they choose Ethiopia over Somalia for the simple fact it had larger population and access to sea (Eritrea was still part of Ethiopia) talk about fumbling the bag.
Having a larger population wasn't a factor. But they wanted to extend their influence and communism , so it was their goal to maintain Somalia but also replace the US in Ethiopia.
So them choosing Ethiopia when that plan failed came down to their perception that Ethiopia was more committed orthodox marxist than Somalia.
Somalia was seen as a maverick and an unreliable ally to the soviet, mainly because it perused its own independent foreign policy interests.
They actually placed Ethiopia on economic sanctions and arms embargos as a result of the TPLF war

When there was a cracked down on insurgencies back in the 2000s , the UN/IMF/EU cut their aid to Ethiopia.
They will be forced to respond if it gets enough coverage and political pressure i feel. Unlike Isreal , Ethiopia only has state control over reporting inside their country and not a powerful lobby in DC.
