Look at all that lush land and water with no settlements in site.

I think egypts concern was the fill rate as this was directly stealing water from downstream Egypt whose all their farm land is on the banks of the nile. this should no longer be a concern since the dam is now full.

Ethiopia have been filling the dam for a while now despite the objections of Egypt. Every time Egypt would protest diplomatically, Ethiopia would just continue ignoring them, outside of giving sweet talks that they were not hurting Egypt in any way.

Just because the damn is full now doesn't mean that there isn't concerns anymore. The disputes are still ongoing and Egypt came out today and said that the filling of the damn is 'illegal'.

I think biggest risk passed as they aggressively filled the dam diverting quite a bit of water from Egypt. now dam is filled i thought it would be less risk of downstream impact.

I think Egypts biggest complaint going forward is they want written guarantees on water sharing. Maybe they are scared ethiopia will hold egypt hostage over water in future

Egypt have all rights to be concerned in this regard. Heck, we need an agreement too. Now that they've outplayed Egypt, they're coming for us in Somalia with their dams in Oromia, and probably in DDS as well at some point in the future, which will affect the rivers of Somalia :icon cry:

Arabs are notoriously horrible at war.
Fucking 6 days war when a bunch of Arabs including Egypt invaded tiny Isreal and lost. Egypt lost the sinai peninsula ffs.

But Egypt is richer and has better millitary might than Ethiopia. Plus Egypt is a strong American ally and they have the Arab league to supply them if the Arabs can unify for once.

Ethiopia wining and becoming the hegemony in North East Africa is nightmare fuel. I wish for Egypt to bomb that country to hell and for somalis in ogaden to take the opportunity to declare independence and start another armed revolution

The Nile doesn’t belong to Egypt, it doesn’t belong to any country, but a majority of its source does start in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia has every right to do whatever with that river since the blue Nile itself contributes more then 80% off it’s water to the Nile as a whole. If it benefits their own country then why not? Their government is thinking about their civilians first which is a good thing.

Since Egypt didn’t support us back in the 20th century whenever we needed their help, why should we still be concerned with their issues? They can keep their promise to blow up the dam, but looking at their shitty records of war I highly doubt they would win against Ethiopia.

Congratulations to Ethiopia and to the whole region for this great African achievement αŠ₯αŠ•αŠ³αŠ• α‹°αˆ΅ αŠ αˆˆαˆ… πŸ‘πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ή

Good more cheap electricity for the region.

On one hand it's great that countries like Somalia will be able to access cheap electricity and provide for all of their citizens, but at the same time relying on a foreign country isn't ideal either. It will disincentive creating our own energy. Or at critical times even be weaponized against us like in the case of EU-Russia. Though for now, it seems to be a 'good' option for us until we stand on our feet.

Good for them. I don’t understand why people are gating on them. Are you niggas so xascid that you cant even feel good for their achievement. It will help bring many out of poverty.
