I sort of derailed another thread so I will create on here to share the absolute depravity in Ethiopia.

Again, it is stunning to see how the depravity in killing and torturing civillians going on there does not raise any concerns. Ethiopia itself is a PR operation.

Somalis do not realize how much better off we are even though we are demonized by western media and any incident in Somalia becomes international headlines.

Meanwhile, no one knows or cares about what is happening in Ethiopia.

So share the examples of what is going on there here. Just this week.


Forced conscription since their military fell apart. They are kidnapping boys and forcing them into the military and extorting their peasant families to have their kidnapped sons released.

The forced conscription and the militias and troops moving through territories acting like barbaric criminal bands is something that continued from the medieval period into the present day throughout Ethiopian history.

This thread more or less covers their human wave tactics(basically use their own people/troops as dispensable cannon fodder) but also mentions the same thing about forced conscription's and the army kidnapping little boys, the frequent beheadings and executions. So it's been an ongoing theme in their history


I actually mentioned in another thread that the reception of the Somali army compared to the Ethiopian during the conquest of Abyssinia was the perception that we were seen as liberators by they Ethiopian peasants. Because their army brutalized and oppressed.

Just to add this last one:

When Somalis conquered the highlands , they were seen as liberators by the populations living there: As the Portuguese stationed there noted: Ethiopians pretty much hated their monarch and their lords oppressed them

This oppression pretty much continued into 19th century and i believe it relates to the issue today as well.

Their dirgo army groups would move throughout the highlands and sexually assault the villagers and steal from them and ruin their dwellings. Almedia gives an account on this:

it makes me wonder how much more free, prosperous and progressive the whole horn would have been if the Portuguese didn't get involved and the Muslims maintained control of the highlands.

And i feel like it would have rid people of ethnic/religious differences and people would have come under one collective cultural identity rooted in Islam.

But you are right Ethiopia is a big PR operation and it comes from their brutal subjugation of their own people where they also suppress information and a large state apparatus for propaganda & spying on dissidents , their nack for making grandiose narratives and their allyship with the west.

We have seen with Isreal how far western allyship and judeo-christian bias , will make them over look crimes, genocides, death and destruction and breaking international and humanitarian laws. Western media outlets , safe for non-western ones like TRT and Al-Jazzera withwashes them all the time or gives no coverage to it.

Same probably applies here.

That country is genuinely terrifying .. I realized that nothing was going to change in that country when I started researching about their multiple genocides.. the amhara one in the early 90s and 2000s killed atleast 2 million of them imagine! The ethiopian masses, their diaspora all of them were quiet.. no scholarly attention too.

sometimes it annoys me that our clan skirmishes get so much media attention despite having a small deathtoll, and most, if not all, who die tend to be armed men and not civilians madama ee tahay niman oo miyiga isku dagaalayo. Not like ethio conflicts which isn’t even armed factions fighting eachother but them attacking eachothers civilian settlements. The only time our people did that on a massive scale was during the first years of the civilwar, and it died out for the most part after that. This was never common in somali warfare.

anyway there is khair in our Ls being publicized but not theirs, imagine if Somalia had great PR despite the crisis back home and the multitude of issues that plague our country. Imagine if the average somali was to pretend that everything was fine, cuz this is what ethiopians do and it doesn’t serve them. Everyone in that country, rich or poor, the ignorant or intellectual, are too concerned with their image to ever speak about how bad things actually are.

Ethiopians enjoy better PR but their civilians are living in misery, one that is far worse than the one in Somalia.

None of them are willing to do a deep-dive into ethiopian history, im not talking the fake sanitized nonsense you can find in ethiopianist history books. But primary sources. First hand accounts of their culture, ruling class, common sentiments in that society for centuries to figure out where things went wrong.

The barbarism in that country are deffo a continuation of history, not something that is modern or can be attributed to one single leader or ethnic group. Sxb amisom missions is a source of revenue for them, they get paid by the western nations for sending troops there. Ethiopias army would disintegrate the moment these AU missions stop. They cannot fund/arm/provision their own troops.

He duped them, he made them trade their guns for peace and inclusion. Now he is saying he will take it away unless they fall in line.

It was all a smoke screen he was trying to build his power and get people on his side until he lays out the plan for totalitarian take over. I think Tigray and Amhara saw the signs.

If Somalis are caqli they need start preparing their military strength. They need to find ways to protect the progress and stability they have made these past few years.

I pray to not see Ethiopian induced destruction and destabilization happen to Ogaden the way , the way did with Somalia.
