There is no pain I'm a registered nurse who has written and researched about FGM, type one a woman may still have sensation but it will be inadequate. She may even have puedendal nerve damage where chronic pain is a likelyhood due to severed nerves which behave abnormaly. All in all don't tamper with what God has given you. If you value a woman and wish to give her absolute pleasure as a man you cannot do so with removing her most intimate part.

Even though FGM/FGC is illegal in the uk how come white women have the choice of undergoing genital modifications while women where female circumcision is the norm don't have that option. As it stands the ban is only reserved for such women but not white women, wouldn't you consider such a law to be discriminatory in nature ?

I believe you don't understand the full capicity of FGM as comparison to male circumcision. These two are like comparing a small hill to an ice berg the two are very different procedures. Many men make the excuse in accepting FGM by comparing it male circumcision. The clit sole purpose is to provide pleasure it is comparison to the male head in sensitivity. If a woman chooses to have some cosmectic surgery that's fine as long as she is in the consenting age, most cosmetic surgery is to reduce the labia majora or tighten the vaginal cannal, However I have never heard of a woman actively seeking to remove her clit, therefore I cannot understand why a woman would want clitrodectomy ? When majority are educated in that the clit is the most important part in achieving sexual satisfaction, it was made illegal because of young girls being exposed to FGM without a voice. It is classed as child abuse, now for male circumcision I do not understand why it is permissible in the west witour consent, partly due to the ancient customs that are presently embedded in many religions e.g. Judaism and Islam but the procedure does not cause extensive damage as FGM. As a matter of fact men as they age may be exposed to conditions called (phimosis) or (balanitis) tightening of the foreskin. Therefore it is medicaly benificial to undergo male circumcision for hygiene reasons. However it is a voilation against women to undergo FGM knowing its extensive harm long term, that is why it is illegal. If something harms you why would you legalise it ? Research has shown women who profess great depression in undergoing FGM, have resentment when it comes to sex etc. I can post you a few journals. If you wish to delve further in this topic, many modern scholars advocate against FGM practice.

As a qualified nurse and having completed my dissertation on FGM, I needlessly created a demo scale study in my home country of Puntland, being ambitious that the trends in FGM are becoming positive I went in thinking that every young lady aged 15-27 has her parts intact. Even though I have only spoken to members privately within my emediate family it was quite alarming that FGM still flourishes despite the consant campaign's by WHO and UNICEF. although infibulation is in decline but what I understood through the grapevine is that Clitrodectomy still flourishes so much so that a woman who has not had her most treasured part torn away is ridiculed by being called "a big genital woman". It 's abhorrent and sad that I still in this present day witness a violation against women. Many young women are still affected by ancient traditions and customs unwilling to let go of the past, many older women go out and hunt innocent victims to defile and cut away what it means to be a woman. It is the women infact who drive FGM in Somalia not men !

I hope to continue my masters and get to the grips on why women cannot let go of this barbaric custom. And what we diaspora women can do to tackle this paramount issue hopefully ending many girls from being needlessly cut for selfish reasons.
