Future capital of Somalia, Baydhabo

I understand maybe in this moment in time its not realistic to change the capital. But changing the capital is part of fixing the problem. Its not an overnight decision but its something that needs to happen soon.

It’s a dumb idea to have the largest city as the capital, New York City isn’t the US capital, Toronto isn’t Canada’s, Itanbul isn’t turkeys, Sydney isn’t Australia’s…

The list goes on and on. the Capital also should be inland not coastal, just like Garowe, and Hargeisa does it and have a road connecting to the coast.

Baidoa as the capital also will fill in the social and economic gap of 1.0 Raxanweyne and other yar-yar who live there. This is another reason why AY wanted it to be capital.

The only opposition to Baidoa being the capital is qabiil lmao. No way will all qabiils agree, maybe Daroods will agree since there fed up of ‘Ana leh’ bots. But the majority of tribes will disagree like Dir and Hawiye.

Changing the capital to Baydhabo permanently was actually part of the Carta agreement in 2000. Unfortunately Cabdiqasim left this agreement.

I dont understand why we cant change it in 2022. If anything it makes more sense to change the capital now because the improvement in the country over the past 10 years.

But he left a good legacy in keeping Xamar the capital. Solidifying Hawiye dominance over Somalia forever

Right now hamar is the best city in somaliweyn (Garowe will be 2050 inshallah) but right now, and at least for the next decade it’s Hamar.

Capital or not, if capital was taken away it would not hinder its growth.

If Baydhabo becomes capital it should be a federal territory, Xamar will go to HAG for their Banadir state. I doubt HAG will allow the capital to change since that means cayd money will stop going to Xamar and will come to Baydhabo instead.

Why would HG or AG ever allow that to happen. It’s an existential issue given any President who doesn’t bend to our whims can be gotten rid of as long the capital stays in Xamar quite easily.

Now imagine if it was in Baydhabo. We’d have to go through a lot of territory to depose of the President.

Siyad Barre was gotten rid of in 1 month when the war reached Xamar.

It’s not just the economics side but also political and military side too. Most SNA troops are Hiraab, most politicians are in Xamar so what’s best for Xamar is best for them, most military equipment is in Xamar, the economy is in Xamar and the tourists will be in Xamar too.

Thats what would happen. Baydhabo would be ruled directly by the FGS so SWS and Capital would be seperate. SWS capital would then be transferred to Baraawe.

Especially with its changing demographic, Abgaal used to own majority xaafads out of a dozen+. Now they own 4-5 respectfully.
