The meeting is to discuss the expansion of the Bosaso port. I am pretty sure the man he's meeting is from DP World Dubai, and not someone from the government. The progress and pace of the expansion is really slow. The equipment arrived last year.

I am wondering what will happen to the commercial functions of Berbera port since it will turn into a military base. I am pretty sure it can't be a commercial port and a military base at the same time. Businesses will most probably flock, but the question is where.

The base will have it's own port just like Eritrea as far as i know it won't effect Berbera’s importance as regional hub.

The government has been screwing with Puntland since Abdullahi Yusufs gov finished. Just earlier last year they helped arm Galmudug in the last skirmish. They even sign agreements and do not honour them lol. If there was a decent government in place Puntland would be very cooperative.

This Independence movement hasn't gained much traction. I do not expect it to amount to anything. Neither should you.

The Somali people need to see a central they can trust and whom won't abuse power, the fear of central over-reach and trust to the capital is real.

The federal system in its current which defers great power to states is a transitional system until a more efficient compromise can made the same way a clan-led upper-house can be useful. It can be useful to make painful compromises for a long-term a better Somalia for all its people.
