Farmaajo only crime was staying silent but that could be complicity who knows. We all know Farmaajo toured Puntland with grace he has no qualms with shacabka Puntland
Congratulations to reer PL for this historic development.
During Farmaajo tenure the only thing that was built and funded by Somalis is the only project FGS wasn't part of
Have you heard Rome wasnβt built one day? This is a great start almost have way finished. If they listen negative people three years ago, this big ship wouldnβt have been unloaded. There are no container cranes or storage areas or warehouses to make this place as competitive as Djibouti, Kenya and Berbera.
This port will barely be able to hold fifty twenty foot containers when Mombassa, Berbera and Djibouti can hold thousands at a time.
The highway from Galdogob to Garacad isnβt even dual-carriageway, which is required for trucks. By making it single lane, we may genuinely end up killing people.
Good development but itβs a disappointment in my books.
Comparing external funded and pretty much foreign owned ports to a locally initiated, locally funded, and locally managed project is naive at its best. Garacad is a succes story, it showed that Somalis can build huge infrastructures by themselves without asking useless NGOs for help. I rather make 1 million working for myself than 2 million working for someone else.
The highway extends into Wardheer from Galdogob correct?Dr Osman is extremely happy to welcome Puntland's Second Port. Garacad. Bosaso will now have friendly competition. I guess now things will be cheaper to dock down from Garacad, becuz Bosaso port needed to stop at Salalah Oman to switch to medium size Vessels.
Garacad can bring our trade items directly from India-China-UAE using container sized ships. No re-routing needed, this alone will make garacad cheaper then Bosaso port. Not to mention it's central location for ethiopia and south somalia, it will drive down transport cost. That's only if they successfully connect garacad to the federal high-way and into Galdogob.
To insult to injury the FGS completely destroyed a locally funded airport runway, defaulting on their promise to rebuild it.Congratulations to reer PL for this historic development.

Kheyre that fucking loser destroyed Caabudwaaq airport runway and defaulted on the money to have it refurbished. Now we are rebuilding it again on our own. I say its better to own, manage and fund your own key infrastructure that have the FGS get involved. Garacad is a success because they never asked for anyone help, its majority privately owned I believe if I am not wrong, I think PL state has some share in it. We learn the hard way, anyway, I want the custom, airport, education to be privately and locally owned, even Key roads should be owned by the municipality.View attachment 207848
Ciil qabow ciil u dhinta Im glad Khayre was thrown out for his embarassing rejection of Garacad
Yeah the Cabudwaaq debacle made my blood boil, this is much the result of 'dawlad ku nool' mantra that I hate certain sections of Beesha promoting. Remember that Ali Ciid road he announced from the airport? Not even gravel has been laid. We must locally do it nowTo insult to injury the FGS completely destroyed a locally funded airport runway, defaulting on their promise to rebuild it.

Local funding is the best way, in all spheres. The airport was built by local and disapora funds the first time and will be done again the second time. The FGS will just tail on and on, and if the administration is changed, then you can kiss it goodbye.Yeah the Cabudwaaq debacle made my blood boil, this is much the result of 'dawlad ku nool' mantra that I hate certain sections of Beesha promoting. I don't know with the now Caabudwaaq DC, you know what the last DC did, he told Galnus minister to F off when he said Caabudwaaq airport comes under Galmudug and will be managed by him, this young DC is basically Cali Ciids toy boy.Local funding is the best way, in all spheres. Individualism is the way.
DC should always have the city in his heart, VP should have the state, these 2 should not interwine together, or it will set development back. Good move for him to decline that, but Cid should focus on the State and National Scale.I don't know with the now Caabudwaaq DC, you know what the last DC did, he told Galnus minister to F off when he said Caabudwaaq airport comes under Galmudug and will be managed by him, this young DC is basically Cali Ciids toy boy.
Caabudwaaq municpality turn over is ridiculous and can easily fund the project, but they don't do it, look at Beledxawo they are raking in the money as well but no infrastructure, its always diaspora who build shit.
I dont know how the new DC even got the job, the guy has no experience and was unemployed prior to his naming. He used to shaxaad me in clan meetings back in 2017 when I was there lol. I laughed when he was picked dude has zero ability.I don't know with the now Caabudwaaq DC, you know what the last DC did, he told Galnus minister to F off when he said Caabudwaaq airport comes under Galmudug and will be managed by him, this young DC is basically Cali Ciids toy boy.

Arenβt you from Mudug and Doollo? Surely you should be most excited about this project, because it will benefit most in your family and your areas. There are no container cranes or storage areas or warehouses to make this place as competitive as Djibouti, Kenya and Berbera.

Man your perspective is bigly distorted, how are you comparing us to Australia. and no we can't rely on foreign backers for this Project, they see Garacad as small village that don't justify big investment. look at this report by African Development Bank: "The two corridors, MogadishuβBeletβHawo and GaracadβGalkayoβGaldogob, while significant, are not readily implementable nor will they have significant upstream impact, as the required infrastructure in the neighbouring countries is not very well developed and suffers poor connectivity.". so do we have to wait a foreign entity?, absolutely not. we can build our own infrastructure. As I said, Iβm happy but we couldβve done better. Inshallah, Iβm waiting to see the completed project.
I want my people not to settle for mediocrity. We couldβve easily got a foreign backer for this project.
Even in Australia, where I live, nearly all the ports are managed by a foreign entity. Thereβs no point self-funding a port if itβs not going to compete with Mombassa, Djibouti etc.

This will be Garacad in the next 2-3 years and they can expand it as it grows. so nitpicking and saying why didn't they build it like the ones in Australia is absurd to me.
