Gift giving

Someone really needs to teach you the game...

1) If you are dating a guy whilst expecting something from him, then you are doing it wrong. Dating is, of course, consensual between the 2 parties. However, one must not expect a gift from their significant other. Expecting suggests that if one was to not receive something, the very foundation of said relationship is without value & lacked purpose.

2) Would you gift the man you are dating? If you said yes & have done so, well then that’s cool, but you should gift out of love & not out of the expectation of receiving something in return. If it bothers you, you could always leave said relationship & find a man who is willing to reciprocate. If you said no, well then why would he bother gifting a woman who is stingy herself or to a woman he is not in marriage with?

3) Technically, you should be happy that he’s not gifting you because these gifts may cause you to grow stronger feelings for him & who knows, you may both fall into the very sin of zina, simply because of material possessions.

Hope that helps

man should not give a gift until they are married. Buy a gift after the nikah married.

1) you are not committed to each other and it can only create more trouble later

2) a man must really be a fool if he buys a gift for someone he is not married to. Of course you pay for the dinners so you are not a qaasho for that reason

Men are trash, if he gives you gifts then he will definitely expect something in return, never accept expensive gifts. Unless he puts a ring on it, then don't trust his generosity.

Run ma rabtaa mise been?

Hadaa rabtid been iyo sheeko quraafaad -you should be endlessly loving and supportive and not expect anything.

Hadaa rabtid run - Nin marku ku jecelyahah gacantiisa wey kuu furantahay. That doesn’t mean expect a Birkin or some crazy gifts, but his generous spirit will be made clear. You won’t have to wonder. Occasional gifts are a part of that. Ka fogow nin bakhiil ah. They will suck the joy out of your life.

But everything in moderation and have healthy expectation. Don’t be expecting a 20 year old student to be spending like hes 40 with a professional job.

Have you ever been to those $50+ for a plate kinda restaurant? A gift is a once in a while kind of thing but going to a restaurant is more frequent don’t you think? Also you can tell if he’s gaajo from the kind of restaurants he takes you to, the food he orders, if he orders an appetizer or not. Etc
Spending money =/= Having money
Anyway basically 99% of somalis in their 20s are gaajo. Even if he has a high paying professional career he’s still gaajo unless his parents have money
