I agree with this 100%. There are people who love to blame certain clans, but when has the FGS ever launched a serious offensive against sh*bab in kgs or Jubbaland? What confuses me most is why sh*bab are mainly recruiting girls from kgs and not from other federal states.

That's not neccessarily true. Just because these are the ones that have been caught doesn't mean they haven't caught others.

The only reason these ones are from kgs is because they are married to soldiers from kgs that have been sent to galgaduud. But trust me Shabaab from galgaduud also have women that are from their regions.

Some people love to blame qabiils for ‘being part’ of AS , I believe young men from poor families regardless of their region/clan are prone to join AS in exchange for financial rewards. Combine that with a lack of understanding about Islam and no future prospects it’s easy to see why AS might look attractive.

In Somalia Bantu is usually referring to the tribe. Yes she might have Bantu roots or admixture but tribally she is Reewin not Madowweyne.

I sometimes follow the news from the military court in Mogadishu. It appears that young women and divorcees from konfuur galbeed are being transported in large numbers to galguduud to become wives of sh*bab fighters. Quite a few of them have been intercepted on their journey.

The reasons for this are varied:

- Forced marriage
- Some admit to willingly engaging in “shukaansi” with these soldiers
- Some are driven by the promise of money

These girls are being treated horribly, with some only receiving $30 a month to live with. They all seem to have a similar excuse, which raises the question: was this orchestrated before they went to court? It’s strange that the government is not imposing harsher sentences on these girls. But what is happening in konfuur galbeed? This issue isn’t observed in other regions of Somalia. Sh*bab can never be defeated if there is a mindset that being a “sh*bab wife” is normal. Ofc, many of these marriages are without consent, and immediate intervention and increased surveillance in konfuur galbeed is urgently needed.
