Gulf Arabs fabricating Somali history for political reasons, fight back.

No, it probably was a general association that started from the 18th century when there was slave boom where the majority of the slaves became swahili and ethiopian/oromo in origin who were transported out of East Africa to the the wider Arab and Middle Eastern world

I remember reading a book that described this. They hold these perceptions because that was their general exposure and interactions to Black people as slaves, laborers and servants and that's how they arrived there. This perception is kept up by Ethiopian/African maids.

You can see that to be the case because a lot of times their perception will deviate from that as you have seen at times with Somalis. We were generally held in higher esteem throughout history.
Nah it's way older than that. Rember even the abbasids had black slaves and so did the ummayds. black slaves even date back to before the islamic period. I mean we had al jahiz thr famous Arab writer defending black people and saying they did have noble qualities . I mean the fact that saying "you son of a black women" to bilal was an insult should tell you how blackness was seen at that time

Even the idea of black people as sexual creatures of unctrollable lust appears very early in arabk literature and is even present as motif in arabian nights.

That has more to do with tribal pride/purity than colour. Imam Ali for example is described as the same complexion as Bilal.

In a sense when you think about its not that surprising. If you look at somebody from the middle east and somebody from souther Europe. They don't look that diffrent. They might even occasionally blend in sometimes Whereas objectively speaking most of us Africans would stand out right away. Its why j geg shocked when you hear people say the ankcnet greeks and romans didnt see race or werent racist. I mean it would be insane to think they wouldn't notice how much more diffrent Africans look. Then the other people they encounter.

Yeah but keep in mind that imam ali likely looked very arab. Also a lot of the arabs were probably much lighter than this. I mean our mother aisha had red hair. She probably had pale skin.

By the way for your info, Abu Dharr al Ghifari, the sahabi who had the incident with Bilal was described as black in complexion himself.

As for modern Arabs or Arabised peoples often having a mediterranean appearance, that is due to intermixing that happened. Pure bedouins that retain more Natufian like ancestry do not look like that. They would be considered Caucasian by craniofacial measurements and hair type, but their complexion was much darker.

Its not surprising either, as even us Somalis who have a substantial amount of ancient East African ancestry produce mediterranean looking offspring within one generation of mixing with a European type ethnicity.

Never heard Aisha had red hair, if true its probably due to henna. Also fair complexion in context with her environment ie a light brown and not modern white standards.

The arabized people today were always Mediterranean looking. Same thing with Iraq which borders Iran. Also consider the fact that arabs migrated from the Levant to the rest of arabia. But my main point is that even those darker skinned looking arabs outisde the ones look black. Still looked incredibly similar to somebody from the Mediterranean relative to the avg black person

I am not disputing that. My point is that peninsular Arabs were darker, think Socotra or Mahra and other southern tribes not Lebanon.

I doubt that Aisha was a ginger. Besides the brown, copper tinged hair is common. My own full Somali daughter has it.
It's possible that im misrembering. But it wouldn't surprise me if there were lots of arabs with light colored hair and skin. Keep in mind these guys were nomadic tribes that moved around and they borders the roman empire and persian empire. Just like you can find lighter then avg somalis. These guys probably have arabs who very pale with lighter colored eyes and hair.

Ofcourse that was the case, but they were rarer and when seen they considered them to be mixed with slaves.

by penisular arabs you mean the bedouins. But the fact is that these bedouins have always been present in syrian and the Levant. Thats where semetic speakers migrated from thosuands of years ago.

(2) Narrated Zahdam: Once we were in the house of Abu Musa who presented a meal containing cooked chicken. A man from the tribe of Bani Taim Allah with red complexion as if he were from the Byzantine war prisoners, was present. Abu Musa invited him to share the meal but he (apologised) saying. "I saw chickens eating dirty things and so I have had a strong aversion to eating them, and have taken an oath that I will not eat chickens." Abu Musa said, "Come along, I will tell you about this matter (i.e. how to cancel one's oat ). I went to the Prophet in the company of a group of Al-Ashariyin, asked him to provide us with means of conveyance. He said, 'By Allah, I will not provide you with any means of conveyance and I have nothing to make you ride on.' Then some camels as booty were brought to Allah's Apostle and he asked for us saying. 'Where are the group of Al-Ash'ariyun?' Then he ordered that we should be given five camels with white humps. When we set out we said, 'What have we done? We will never be blessed (with what we have been given).' So, we returned to the Prophet and said, 'We asked you to provide us with means of conveyance, but you took an oath that you would not provide us with any means of conveyance. Did you forget (your oath when you gave us the camels)? He replied. 'I have not provided you with means of conveyance, but Allah has provided you with it, and by Allah, Allah willing, if ever I take an oath to do something, and later on I find that it is more beneficial to do something different, I will do the thing which is better, and give expiation for my oath." (Book #53, Hadith #361)
(6) Narrated Zahdam: There was a relation of love and brotherhood between this tribe of Jarm and Al-Ash'ariyin. Once we were with Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari, and then a meal containing chicken was brought to Abu Musa, and there was present, a man from the tribe of Taimillah who was of red complexion as if he were from non-Arab freed slaves

Light aka Slave.

Yes they have and guess what, even today you occasionally find the darker coloured ones heavily present among them due to consanguinity.

But back then you had Arab, Turkic, persian, roman/Byzantium slaves etc You had a wide diverse pool so this wasn't limited to Black people which were usually Zanj or Habash

Look up how how Arabs back then spoke about those other groups, at one poin most slaves were actually ''white'' it was seen as synonymous with slavery in the Arab world because they made up the majority at certain times.
