Somalinimo should be based on how ingrained you are within the culture. I've seen half Somalis (from the dad side) who know nothing of being Somali and I've seen ones from their mothers side who are full on Somalis.
It should remain the status quo and we should focus on making our country peaceful so that those with somali fathers learn about our culture and language because the civil war prevented it from happening.

I agree that we should work on making a peaceful nation. Though fathers should always be inclined to teach their children their culture no matter what. I understand that in our faith paternity is pass through the male line. However, if there is no active engagement by a father to teach his children his culture then can we full accept them in?
I think we need to examine how we should go about teaching our children our culture while in diaspora. Perhaps having Somali culture classes where we teach them to read, write and speak. I'm thinking it passed time we implement it cause by the time we're secure back home, we'll have a lot of mixed somalis and diaspora Somali that are confusing about their identity.
