Culture is passed on from the mother's side, to marry a foreign woman you need to be in your cultural setting for the kids to gain your culture.

I think both parents have responsibility in passing the culture down to their children. Somali men simply have this disconnect that makes them think since they're somali so it's the kid automatically, often leading to them not bothering to properly teach their kids.

I have seen more half Somalis who's mother's have ensured they are connected to their culture and language. I think a part of that is cause women don't have the luxury of the men. They know their kids will be looked at a certain way so they'll try to make them as somali as possible.
