So, just today I got into a bit of an argument with a retarded Somali honey from Djibouti. I don't know what the f*ck this girl's parents or tribesmen have been filling her head with but she really weirded me out... She didn't even understand what an ethnic group was and kept saying "I'm not Somali. I'm Djiboutian." I paused for a sec and thought Maybe she's an Afar but when I asked if she was an Canferi she said "No, I'm Issa." and then some Indian friend of hers interferes in the convo and this weird begins to tell her that the situation is comparable to Ukraine and Russia (she means the USSR, lol) and that Djiboutians are a separate people from "Somalians" in the same way Ukrainians are a separate people from Russians (two separate ethnic groups with distinct languages!)

I then began digging deeper and this girl legit doesn't even understand the concept of an ethnic group or a Somali people as an ethnicity. She seems to take nationalities way too seriously and I was like "What about Somalis in Ethiopia? They're not Somalis?!" then she says "Yes. Cos they're not from Somalia." this crazy seems to legit think being Somali has something to do with being from Somalia and she doesn't seem to get the difference between a nationality and an ethnicity. Then she begins claiming the clans look visibly different (rofl, what?). This is funny cos she couldn't guess mine at all through my looks.


I'd met Djiboutian Somalis before and they seemed like they had their heads on straight. Is this a mindset other people in this forum have encountered? I gotta say, she weirded me the f*ck out. How can someone be this ignorant and dumb?!

There's really no excuse for why it hasn't basically become similar to Singapore Not that I see that as ideal, mind you. If it was a question, Somali as an ethnic group, it only existed for foreigners, academia and pseudo science to identify us as a group, but for Somalis, we identify with our clans and despise sharing ethnicity.
