You're a book reader, sxb?

I haven't read the GRRM series yet, but I read that the scenes of that saqajaan Criston and Alicent hooking up (TWICE, completely unnecessary) were added for the show-only, presumably to have enough sex scenes to keep audiences interested smh

I don't like the idea of Aegon being king (I'm team Rhaenyra) but this episode made him so much more likeable and empathetic, his scenes killed me.

:dead:
Blood and Cheese shower Alicent really cared about her grandchildren. She was up there playing with them helping put them to sleep and then when blood and cheese broke in the gagged her and tied her up against the wall, the gave Helaena a choice between the two son she had which one of them the show completely ignored aka baby Maelor. She choose herself and begged them to kill her instead of the kids. Eventually the forced her to pick one and she choose Maelor hoping he was to young to understand but instead they killed Jaehaerys her firstborn and the whispered in Maelor ears "Your mother would rather have you dead" before escaping with the decapitated head of prince Jaehaerys.

Alicent and Criston Cole were much more interesting characters in the books, Criston Cole was everything you weren't suppose to be "The common born son of Lord Dondarrions steward" he went from the son of the chief butler of some low born Lord to Hand of the King, and Alicent caree about her children more than anything. She survived the war but after losing her father, children, friends, uncle, cousins, aunts. Even the handmaiden who served her was killed by Rhaenyra during the recapture of KL and yet during it all she didn't budge and told everyone who would listen her son would save her.

How did they even find out about Luke’s death by Aemond’s dragon? It was just them and their dragons in the middle of nowhere, with no witnesses. They never explained this at the end of last season or the new episode. How did Daemon know for him to tell the mother? The boy’s body was never found, and the half-eaten little Dragon didn’t wash up on the shores of Dragonstone until much later.

Its a minor pet-peeve, but shows like Breaking Bad did this very well; Jesse would be clueless about Walter’s involvement (or lack of involvement) in Jane’s death until at the very end of the last season, even though we as the audience knew this already.

Well, the last time Luke was alive, was when he and Aemond, went to that castle to ask for support. They also know that demon, hates her son. So, the only plausible explanation for being missing, is murder or abduction.

Maybe someone witnessed it and reported it, sent a letter via pigeon or whatever.

In the book, Luke’s body and his dragon’s head is discovered by a local when it washed upon the shores of Storm’s End, only then was a raven sent to Dragonstone. The first episode of season 2 has the dragon’s body being discovered by fishermen and they run away when they see Rhaenyra and her dragon. I didn’t even know what beach this was until I looked it up, apparently it’s a bay in the Stormlands and not Dragonstone.

I guess they went for the dramatic effect of two mothers mourning their sons (since Arrax was also her dragon’s son).

From the perspective of the book's canon, I wholeheartedly agree.

But I like that they broke the logic of the story's worldbuilding by making the Velaryons black, despite having Targaryen ancestry in Laena and Laenor that would have made that impossible.

It makes it whole lot easier to tell them apart onscreen with the inconsistently acceptable lighting that makes the Targaryen and Velaryon emblems harder to spot on their uniforms + the slight colour differences of the uniforms (very dark maroon for the Targaryens that can be easily mistaken for the very dark navy blue for the Velaryons in the dimly lit shots plus blink-and-you-miss-it dragon riding scenes).
It makes sense but execution wasn't the best.

How's everyone finding the season btw? I can't believe S2 ends next week, I feel like there's more to be explored.

Last episode was good!

The Tully kid who humiliated Daemon was the best actor in the show tbh
This season had a very slow start, but I enjoyed watching all the pieces fall into place this episode, with all of the smallfolk (Targaryen bastards) from previous episodes coming together to claim each of the dragons. Glad it paid off.

Even if the finale isn't as exciting as the S1 finale, at least the next season will be much more interesting with the Stark ancestors thrown in the mix (like that actor from the first episode who was at the Wall with Jace)

I don't think he will arrive until the final season,
