How do you say Hi in Somali?

I’m embarrassed to say today my co worker asked me this simple question and I was stumped, of course I didn’t want to tell him we don’t have a word for it so instead I told him ee waraan lol

Anyways help me, so tomorrow I can tell him there are multiple ways of saying hi so he doesn’t go around saying ee waraan lol

As per somalis they either say aryaa/aryaahe or waryaa.. which ain't a good thing to say or it ain't formal

So, we go for hello or even "greetings sir/madam(miss)" = which is salaan sare mudane or marwo as @Abdalla said


There are those who say iskawaran and use it like greetings, but it's not like hi... but kinda greeting for some.

Or you can say to your bestie "haye, iiwaran"
