I have lived most of my life in Sweden. I am someone who has fully embraced the opportunities this country offers. I studied hard, graduated with top grades, and I am now studying to become a civil engineer at one of the two top technical universities in Sweden. Sweden offers many opportunities, and many with immigrant backgrounds, including Somalis like myself, have taken advantage of these chances. I personally know several Somali sisters who are currently studying to become doctors.
That being said, of course there are individuals who don't appreciate these opportunities, who choose not to study, who engage in crime and reckless behavior. These kinds of people exist everywhere, and they always will.
Sweden has historically been an open country when it comes to immigration. However, in recent years, criminality, especially deadly shootings, has increased drastically. The rate of deadly shootings is now ten times higher than in neighboring Scandinavian countries. This has made many people realize the severity of the situation, and as a result, simple right-wing narratives have become more attractive to some.
When you look at the situation, it's clear: many immigrants were placed together in so-called "Million Program" housing areas, far from ethnic Swedes and the broader society. This created isolated communities with low incomes and weak language skills. When children grow up in such environments, with poor schooling motivation and poor Swedish proficiency, it naturally increases the risk of them dropping out of school and falling into crime.
Where does the problem originate? It is not about their religion or ethnicity. It stems from poor management of immigration and integration policies. Similar problems could happen to any ethnic group under the same circumstances.
The major issue was the intake of too many immigrants, too quickly, combined with poor integration policies. Language programs like SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) were underfunded and disorganized. There was also a mix of political naivety and kindness, along with corruption and economic exploitation. Some politicians bought up entire housing areas before the refugee wave and later sold them to the state at a profit, providing places for refugees to stay. I personally know people who had to live in old prisons for a while because of the housing crisis. Ironically, many of these politicians later became strongly anti-immigration.
We must be clear: individuals who commit crimes and shame the entire immigrant community must be criticized harshly. But labeling Muslims as "a virus that destroys Sweden" is outright racism and a sign of low intelligence. As a Somali myself, I recognize both those who do wrong and the many who work hard and succeed.
At the same time, racism in Sweden is real, and it cannot be ignored. Here are a few examples:
In December 2022, a pregnant Somali nurse was murdered on her way home from work in Märsta. Initially, authorities assumed it was an honor killing, but later it was revealed that the perpetrator was an ethnic Swedish man, who was convicted but considered mentally ill.

In 2023, a Somali boy named Mohamed, only 14 years old, was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered. His mother called the police as soon as he failed to return home from school. However, because her Swedish wasn't perfect and she asked for an interpreter, the police mocked her and refused to take her seriously. They didn’t even file a missing person report. It later emerged that Mohamed was still alive when she called. The boy was tortured beaten than cold blood murderd my the gang called Foxtort a kurdish/Arab gang, they are now claiming that he had lost a gun belonging to them which the police canot fully ensure if it’s true because the only lead they have is the phone message of the suspect gang member.

In 4 februari 2025, Sweden witnessed its worst mass shooting at a school in Örebro, where most students had immigrant backgrounds. A man entered the school, shot at students, screamed "You must leave Europe," and it was later revealed that he consumed far-right news sources. Despite this, authorities are till reluctant to label it a hate crime.

The information we receive is often selective, and there is a very clear difference in how crimes are reported depending on who the perpetrator and the victims are. Racism is real in Sweden, and it needs to be acknowledged alongside the very real challenges that exist within immigrant communities.
There is some truth in what you are saying. However, you seem to carry a deep sense of self-hate, and there is no good in that. In fact, you are no better than the racists you criticize, because generalizing an entire group of people based on the actions of a few is exactly the same thing they do.
