I read the UNCHR reports of interviewed Isaaq civilians in various UN camps in Ethiopia.

The majority of deaths occurred around May, 1988 to early 1989.

Civilian deaths plus SNM amount to around 10k IMO and that is even being liberal with the numbers.

This 50k is sexy number but I am yet to see an actual proof

Btw why is the Mudug massacre always ignored? Isaaqs took part in it and killed civilians along with the government, no clan said anything everyone watched in silence that was the first signal. Everything went down after the 77 war, isaaqs were not innocent but everyone know Siad barre was brutal to his own people and that was his downfall.

It doesnt even make sense if 200k died then most of the Isaaq clan wouldnt exist 10k sounds reasonable its still horrible plus the mass emigration and refugee crisis.

You do know the SNM rebellion was a direct result of the war in 77 with Ethiopia. With the Kacaan supportimg darood expansion in the hawd and somaliland.

Further more Ethiopia didn't sorry the SNM just didn't expel their presence in Ethiopia. Until Barre & Mingistu made a deal to expel and then SNM did a victory or death assault into somaliland dividing into 2 divisions West and East

Somalia is way to broke to pay but a public apology would go a long way in efforts to resume talks.

I don't know if it would it do much of a difference, at least not on a governmental level but the people would stop hating Somalia or hate them less.

No one wants to join a failed state and a failed people, it was a terrible mistake the act of union passed by the traitors in Somaliland parliament in 1960, u believe those d heads should be rounded up and executed.

I think 1-2k died, mostly to lack off water in gaalkacyo after they cut it (as if the drought in 74 wasnt bad enough). Hundred killed and raped plus the looting. I think if most clans realized by then that siad barre had to step down in 79-80 we would have been fine but everyone only cared about their clan. Barre overall had a sickness and disliked mjs
