Why do our people always try and do Dhaqan cellis at the worst possible time and then act all shocked when it ruins lives

So many somali kids I know got sent to dhaqan celis. Lots don't have any formal qualifications in mind and doing it for religious purposes. Our people lack long-term thinking. They think because they're old and can retire in Somaliland they can just take their kids with them.

Nah no matter how abusive somali parents are, there are always people visiting them. Probably due to ceeb in our culture when it comes to parents. And that's why they never change

Everything you listed is and obligation for parents. If they didn't, CPS would've taken your kids away. and people like you are why these parents think they can get away this. Making up sob stories like beating your child is in anyway justified. It's forbidden to cause harm to your child.

Most aren't in somalia. We have rights aren't obligated to experience abuse at the cost of our own lives just because they carried out their legal duties.

Not to say I'm not grateful for my parent's sacrifices. But sacrificing doesn't mean you get to eternally guilt trip your child into accepting abuse.

Somali families can be insufferable. No sense of privacy. If you're the oldest, they treat you like a parent. They act like they did you some favour by letting you exist.

Only upside is that there's a good sense of community and sometimes they can be the best. But those are few and far in between.

My father is very abusive. He still hits me and I'm nearly and adult. and my mother is quite manipulative but I prefer her over my dad.

Wallahi, abusing your children, especially physically, is the easiest way to not only make them hate you but also to cause them long-term trauma. I had this Somali kid who was my neighbor in elementary school. His father was very abusive toward him, and the kid was deeply traumatized as a result. If you even called his name, he would jump up in fear. In the end, social services got notified, and they took him away from his family. Some Somali parents think kids are born with adult brains, it’s really sad.

Yet Vietnamese/Chinese/Indian parents dont get their kids taken away. They do beat their kids aswell. Theres another element that MENA+Somali parents are not being honest about. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was FGM

I got a cousin that's a social worker and a large chunk of the kids she deals with are madow and Mexicans.
