It's been an amazing night. Abdi gal's slave-master was forced into an early retirement, and we have the first Darod MP. There is no such thing as "Somali", so stop using that accursed term please. This was a Darod victory and the result of good old hard Darod work and Darod intelligence. He will most likely be appointed as minister. I just hope he will help his people in Puntland and Jubbaland and not forget about them. They were the ones who helped get him where he is today.
Hes a criminal and Puntland partisan, he will not represent all Somalis but only MJs
Hes a criminal because he abuses his influence to redirect aid from Somaliland/Mogadishu to Puntland, hes mismanaging funds and abusing his post, you can find many evidences of this by previous investigative posts from AbdiJohnson and others. You can't call him a criminal without substantiating your claim with evidence. Even if he does support Puntland, what does it matter to you? I'm sure you support whatever area you're from. That's irrelevant. Also, we live in the west not in Somalia so he represents Somalis. Like it or not.
All this hype, what will he be able to do for Canadian Somalis? Is it just pride that a Somali is finally an MP or will this help the Somali community?

9 Muslims were elected last night. All ran as liberals.

I have no clue what compelled me to actually respond to a troll post. I don't think you understand that the reason Somalis in Canada have not had elected officials (until recently) is because they are so polarized [especially in T.O]. You have people that settle along tribal lines. Heck, Somalis can't even get it together and form a non-partisan non-tribe based community centre. The day they do, I will congratulate them. They need to learn that they can garner their collective power by working together. And they could also vote in blocks (without sabotaging a candidate just because they don't belong to their clan). Yes; there is something called Somali, which is what you unequivocally are. This man represents Somalis ethnically, not just his tribe. People referred to him as the first Somali-Canadian MP, not first [insert tribe] MP.
Don't you ask yourself why the "Somali" community is so divided? Why is it, say Indians for example, with all of their diverse and distinct ethnic groups, can all rally behind an Indian MP and get them elected, but "Somalis" who are allegedly of the same ethnic group and heritage cannot seem to ever come together? Doesn't this raise fundamental questions to you about what exactly is a "Somali"? If Indians of completely different ethnic groups act more like kin than "Somalis" of the same ethnic group, then clearly something is amiss, no?
I'm also not trolling about Ahmed Hussen. Anyone who knows him and doesn't have a stake in his campaign will tell you the honest truth that he doesn't believe in "Somalinimo" and neither do much of those that supported him in his riding. He's just using that failed concept out of political convenience, just like that other user "Duchess" here. She'll call for Somalinimo when it benefits her Tol, but will discard it and ridicule it at a moment's notice. Even if she is apart of the blessed family, there isn't anything more I hate on this Earth than two-faced hypocrites.
Finally, Ahmed Hussen won without the help of the "Somali" community. Even if he could get all of their votes, it wouldn't have counted for much. He invigorated the community and is finally reaping the benefits of years of service to that community. I only wished he was more open about his true beliefs to the "Somali" community.
I am the very consistent with my views and have been for years. Everyone knows where I stand so you owe me an apology for calling me a hypocrite.
