Only middle age Somali women tbh.

It was worse as a child. But even now I get comments about my makeup being too dark (it fits my complexion perfectly).

I don't think it's jealousy but more that lightness = beauty for these women. That's why overweight light skin women with unfortunate looking makeup are the only women news anchors.

The difference btwn what's considered beautiful now to back 1980s is just :snoop:
Strange how they don't lose weight but they are focused on being light skin.

Have you seen their makeup? Seems as though some of them think it's ok to fill their faces with white powder and then line their eyebrows with thick black eyebrow pencil it looks so hideous.

I watched a Netflix movie called sandstorm about a Bedouin Arab family. There are two wedding scenes and I kid you not the brides looked just as ridiculous as somali brides with the white powder faces. In fact the make up is exactly the same.

It seems we've copied Everything off of Arabs including their hideous fashion. @fardowsa

Horta what is considered lightskinned in Somali standards? :cosbyhmm:

I'm around this shade, never had anyone make comments about my skin colour though.

My mother is really lightskinned though and she used to say that people would call her carab even though she isn't because of her skin tone, but that's about it. She grew up in Djibouti though so maybe there's less of a colorism problem there?

There are many Somalis with that skin tone but I think that tone is a bit lighter. I would say you are neither dark nor light. You are normal, hun.
