I am an optimist to a fault and may be that is because I have female relatives who are dear to me. They are not perfect but they are doing what they can to navigate a difficult environment that demands sacrifices beyond their experience as young women in the west. They are good human beings who deserve good husbands to share life with, decent Somali men preferably. Giving up on our young women is pessimistic. Instead, we ought to pray for them and do what we can to help them succeed.

Our fathers sacrificed through marriage same way our mothers sacrificed through the marriage. Marriage is a compromise, a contract and a mission to ride out on the turbulent waves of our life experiences. No one is perfect and we should remind ourselves that Allah is there to guide us and help us succeed saxib.
