NATIONAL SHAME: “is this city (Dire Dawa) part of the Somali region” says Cadaan YT traveler, his Ethiopian guide “this is Oromia region”

Wrong! Dire Dawa is not in Oromia or Somali state/region. It is a charter city along with Addis Ababa. Both cities are governed by their own city charter and are directly under the federal government and not under any state/region. Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa are the only 2 charter cities that do not belong to any state/region and are directly under the federal government, governing their internal matters with their own city charter document. Unlike the two cities, Harar is a state just like Oromia, Somali etc.

Tigrayans are snakes. They needed Dire Dawa for the train rail with Djibouti so they curved the city from Somali region making it a charter city and than encouraged everyone to move there. This was s deliberate move to weaken Somali claim over Dire Dawa.

Xabashis are the biggest Xassid, they intentionally changed the demographic composition of Dire Dawa & Harrar to seed discord amongst population and weaken any united front in the strategic city.

I think we have to differentiate between the land and the city itself. The city itself is a new town founded in 1902 due to the construction of Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and was always a multicultural melting pot from the start. It was never a one ethnic city from its foundation.

The present-day town of Dire Dawa (311 km by rail from Djibouti), however, is of very recent origin. It owes its foundation to a technical problem: when it became impossible to lay the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway via Harar because of the steep access to the town, atse Menelik II accepted (in a later dated 5 November 1896) that the first part of the line might finish at a village at the foot of the mountains, which should be named Addis Harar ("New Harrar").[18] The railway reached this location on 24 December 1902, a date which may be considered the day of Dire Dawa's foundation.[19] The new name, however, did not win recognition.

The Gurgura and cisse dominate the city and some rural areas and the rest of the rural areas belongs to the Gaddabuursi. A few noole oromo, Gurage and Amhara also live there.

Most of those counted as oromos are Gurgura who trace their lineage back to Dir but also speak Affan oromo.

The demography of a city changes everywhere in the world. The idea of a "pure" ethnic city is delusional in my view. The demographics of Washington DC, Minneapolis etc. have changed. People are not static like plants :ftw9nwa: they move, work, intermarry, change residences etc. It is more wise to have a system in place that can accommodate demographic changes and provide a fair public service to all than to live in delusion of a "pure" ethnic city which will only lead to unnecessary conflicts. Let people move and live wherever they want.
Like welkiyat right.

Somalis cannot move to Bahir dar due to amhara racism so why is it amhara region os for amhara while the rest of Ethiopia should be shared with amhara.

Also amhara candidates are allowed to register in Jigjiga while the ONLF is blocked to register candidates in harar and Dir dhabe. @xabashi if PP was tolerant of all ethnicities why are they blocking somalis from their Democratic rights.

The Gurgura are by far the dominant clan in Dire Dawa. They are a Dir subclan but they speak Afaan Oromo and are bilingual. So the Gurgura are counted as Oromo because the census counts language as ethnic groups.

So if you take into consideration the Gurgura who are Somali but speak Afaan Oromo and the Nole Oromo, the Oromo will take the cake in any demographic census.

In terms of ethnicity, Somalis are the vast majority of Dire Dawa. In terms of languages, then it's Oromo.

That's what I was saying. The only reason oromos outnumber Somalis in the census is because they include Gurgura as oromo
