So what does this mean for us
No armed forces/navy/Air Force=ethiopia will get whatever it wants
HSM was backed into corner if he doesn’t give them deal , somaliland was going to. HSM can negotiate better deal at least and maybe get something tangible
He was not backed into a corner. He legitimized Somaliland and empowered them to do the MOU.
To many people see the port as end of the world. its not and power dynamics can shift in future. somalia has 10k ethiopian troops inside country who said they not leaving and saying they need to secure border. it will be much harder to dislodge these folks vs port deal inside heart of somalia. these border folks been under Ethiopians so long many choose them over fgs. FGS is being cut up by ethiopia to where it will be just bendair and another FMS.
every president has tried to negotiate and meet with them. somaliland decoupled for way to long no real good solution when somalia in so much chaos. ignore or bring them to table both seem to make situation worse
That doesn't really justify anything HSM has done tbh. We are occupied by foreign forces which is being used as a propaganda tool by extremists like Al Shabaab. It's literally a lose-lose situation. Somalia is in a hopeless position and HSM doesn't make it any better whatsoever.
i agree. he doesnt have power to make it better. but he does have power make it worse . like starting war he cant win. he taking only avenue open to him. he already signed the defense deal with ethiopia to stay in country.
Now second phase is giving them some kind of sea access. im just hoping we get something substantial like ethiopian airlines and gerd access with contract that can be reviewed every 10 yrs or so.
I don't know about that, I can't see how what substantial Somalia can gain from Ethiopia other than just pleasing them with whatever stopping them from further dividing our nation.

Yall honestly believe Ethiopia who can't even pay their troops and relied on atmis revenue for their income and can't even control territory within their own borders suffering defeats at the hands of militia groups like Fano and can march into Somalia and take control over ports by force.
Heck even Ethiopian fully backed by the US, struggled and fled from handful youth volenteers and was forced into peace and autonomy deal by the ONLF. Yall overestimate them a lot.
The thing with Abyi Ahmed he operates like a typical Ethiopian leader, Much like Haile Sellassie he goes on media press tours and state visits with other countries while large swarms of his country is suffering and in civil strife , pretending and denying it. It all results with them being overthrown in the end.
Also HSM has zero authority to authorize or enforce anything. The guy is just a walking stooge that parades around like some moron. Waa wax iska hadlaayo , the more he does the more he digs his own grave and bumps head with other regional govts. You really believe he can decide port entry via Puntland, Jubbaland and Galmudug?

It actually follows what usually happens first conflict, then economic collapse, famine, discontent, then growing diplomatic/global isolation and then toppling of the government. What hold's up the governments each time is the west propping them up. But they don't do them any favors.
It's better for Ethiopia to disolve into seperate entities i don't think it can even operate as a unified country with all this ethnic division baked into it that keeps it in perpetual state of conflict.
You know how many tigrayans, oromo's and amharas have died? If you look up the figures its some insane stuff and its ongoing as well.
