Omar Duale’s story is not an ordinary one. Born from Ethiopian Somali family in Dire Dawa, where he grew up, Omar had a disciplined life even as a young man.

He revealed that he had to drive a Bajaj in Dire Dawa for five years while pursuing his engineering degree at Dire Dawa University, where he also served as a tutor.

How did he became a pilot in Ethiopian Airlines? The story is so inspiring with a lesson for many in the country and beyond.

The airlines first somali pilot, I think.

Love to see young Somali men doing well.

keep raising brothers we are superior to the odays who destroyed our motherland , we will rebuild it and save it from these corrupt aid-money taking leaches.

The Somalis in Ethiopia majority look like this dude, and the somalis guys from somalia look like sheikh sharif .

Maybe your talking about southern somalis. But majority of somali guys look look closer to this guy than sheikh Sharif, he looks more like south Sudanese.

What an inspiration! I don’t speak the language but I can detect positivity in any form. This young man brought tears to my eyes when he showed so much respect to his teacher and vice verse. You don’t even have to be Somali to be touched by his unwavering dedication to succeed, the love he has for his hooyo and family. Long live the brother :)

Masha'Allah, this brother should be proud of his achievement. May Allah continue to reward him for his efforts.

It takes 2 years and 70-100K to become a commercial airline pilot in the states. I can't imagine how much more difficult it was getting the same credentials living in Ethiopia as a Somali man. Masha'Allah!

why was the farah bowing down to that nigga for?
That’s Ethiopian tradition of showing the utmost respect for someone whom you value very high and want also to give thanks. People do this for example to their parents to show utmost respect or in this case Omar doing it to his elementary school teacher whom he helped and encouraged Omar the most. His former teacher couldn’t hold his tears and didn’t allow Omar to do the bowing to the full (which normally includes kissing of the knees) signaling „I don’t deserve this much respect“. Omar is a decent and humble gentleman who has inspired many young Ethiopians and earned high respect for his humility and decency.
