It's very important that the government does take information from us so that it helps with policy making.That's the whole purpose of the census
The somali community in the UK is massive and it's about time we get the tailored support we need to tackle key issues like employment, education, housing and etc.

we need some assistance in housing and funding to open somali businesses and employ and train skilled Somali workers which can positively affect the community in return were not there yet but we can make it as big as the American Somalis

To compare us to other diasporas you gotta use stats.I remember people citing that American Somalis make around $20K which is the same as our minimum wage

you have to admit most uk malis do taxi jobs but in minnesota they work in a variety of jobs same thing in the UK but not in the same level as american somalis

all is well bro i was just buzy with work had a lot to do recently so i just focused on that good to see you again sahib

That's another reason why we need to have the census because it allows us to track differences between age groups. From my personal observation taxi jobs tend to be common with fobs and odeys. But younger people tend to do professional jobs after finishing university.

The only issue I can see happening a lot of these guys who are Taxi drivers or own shops will under report their incomes as they are self employed.So it won't be entirely accurate

Also currently we have no idea of the somali population in the UK, it's counted under the umberralla of black or african, on top of that only immigrants or people born in somalia are counted as somali not the millions of kids born in the UK to somali parents, now we'll know how big the somalia population is in the UK and its huge.

If they can add "Somalilander" as an option for ethnicity, then they should be able to do this
