Having kids and refusing to be part of their lives is something I’ll never comprehend. Do these odayaal not feel emasculated?
I’m aware there are many other factors that contribute to the state you see many people within Somali communities in but with present father figures they would be practically non existent. It is a Pandora’s box.

Alhamdulilah I have a good father. But let's be honest. Most of our social ills comes from lazy men. Women being overburdened like donkeys, when it's not cooking, cleaning it's most of the child-rearing. Many also work. I really wonder what the benefit is of good number of these niman outside of being sperm donors.

Single Married Mothers are a global epidemic to be honest. Always have been. The difference is, our society has men that are lazy outside of the house too and who create multiple broken homes.
These types of men don't have any shame.
They got married so that their mother could be replaced. As in, they want a woman to care for them and not reciprocate. Selfish parasites, if they could, they would also feed off a woman's body.

Some of These fathers need to adapt to the western way of parenting no excuses after 30+ years
Islamic parenting dheh. These Western men are also a headache for their wives as I posted above with the 'single married mothers' global culture + weaponised incompetence. They cry for the 1950s/1960s to return, so they can abuse their wives without intervention.
The only reason Western men get away with poor parenting, is because their countries provide a social safety net for women that are neglected or abused; with divorce laws, alimony, domestic abuse laws, marital rape laws etc.
Whereas Somali women have no such safeguards and that's why Somali society is so sick. Single mothers are left with nobody to help, usually they move back home to their parent's houses to raise their children. And nobody is there to shame the man, let alone take him to court for his negligence. This is why I hate the 'Somali women have no qabiil' fake rhetoric, it's so false and abusive. It's the woman's family who does the heavy lifting.

Wrong take. There is nothing wrong with gettting your marriage legally recognised, as it safeguards both parties.
They benefit from not getting legally married and their kids as well since they basically get free post secondary education. A family could have 5 kids all enrolled saving up to half a million in tuition just cause the father's income is not associated with that child

The older generation are bum ass narcissistic deadbeats having children is a game to them. The only upside to this is when you know the feeling of having an absent father and you see your mother working her ass of to provide it makes us wanna do whatever it takes to make sure our future children never feel the way we did. I have faith that my generation will do much better cause a lot of us know that pain.

Young somalis get a borderline free education in America mainly because they're poor and commute to schools that are cheap. Community college is pretty cheap and with the help of a federal and state grants you can graduate university debt free.
The only time young Somali Americans have to worry about actually paying off loans is if they come from middle class households, or decide to live on campus and take loans.
We also got a decent amount of young men that don't even go to college.
One of the worst aspects of some oday diaspora culture in the west is how they barely do anything for their kids and then start expecting lacag the day the offspring graduate or find a part time job. I know some guys who go back home to their third wife back home and they start begging their struggling children to send money back home. And sometimes they use don’t be a Cassi Al waalid card if they say they don’t have money. Ceeb Wallah, especially when they ask their daughters for money.
