The problem is that secession is only possible along tribal lines. I would support a secession of the Isaaq & Gadabursi from Somalia as they have a right to determine their fate. Secession is possible for Somaliland if it relinquishes claims to land that belong to Darod. Somaliland cannot do that because of its current claim to be a direct successor state to the British protectorate of Somaliland. If it only claims land that belongs to Isaaq & Gadabursi, it weakens it’s legal standing.

This is basically the dilemma. The question is how long are the people in Somaliland willing to remain in a limbo? It has been 27 years already.
