The Puntland constitution says if Somalia instability continues, that we have a 'right' to review our regional membership in Somalia.

Now the question remains in many Puntite people mind how do we go about getting our independence. I think I have found a way that can satisfy our locals whether they are pro union or secessionist.

We need to execute our constitutional law to 'review' PL status in Somalia on the grounds Somalia instability has been on-going since 2004 which is nearly 20 years and federalism hasn't been achieved as intended. This now gives our politicians a constitutional reason to discuss our regional membership in Somalia.

For Puntland to get it's independence we should hold talks with the SFG and demand that Puntland is given 'Independent Nation State' status under SFG constitution and recognized by the SFG for period of 99 years and every 25 years Puntland and the SFG will do a 'review' to see if the south is stable enough for a federal union.

This means we satisfy our local unionist that we will re-join Somalia when it's 'safe to do so', I mean even foreigners hide out in 'containers' in halane not wanting to be nowhere near Mogadishu, so it's silly of our unionist to pressure our people to join such place that is un-stable. We can finally satisfy our 'secessionist' that PL has full nation state status for 99 years and we can pursue our own developmental goals not tied to a dysfunctional capital.

The good thing about my approach is we don't want to throw our 'eggs' all into one basket approach like Somaliland with recognition begging worldwide. I say this because we don't know if in the future Puntland starts to decline or has political problems, so if we leave that small window open of 'rejoining' Somalia when it's 'safe' to do so, this allows us Plan B lifeline, if Puntland doesn't turn out how we wanted. However the great thing is, if the south is still unstable, we didn't waste our time being tied to the HIP and PL can enjoy progressing and developing. So we get to 'eat' our cake 'both' ways which is the best type of political strategy.

The worst political strategy is having one plan like Somaliland and relying on that, you always need another PLAN to revert to if your original plan isn't working. If we do the once every 25 year 'generational' review on the 'south' and if the situation gets better, we will discuss with them our federal rights/duties and their federal rights/duties, but if the south remain how it is, it's no skin of our nose, we can continue enjoying our nation state status and say 'adios' to the south for another 'generational review' in 25 years.

If Mogadishu is how it is in 99 years, then our future generation can decide to cut the 'cord' officially and we would've enjoyed nation state relations and development for 99 years by then and will be welcomed into the international community.

So this is the best approach now for my Beloved Puntland. Our local unionist will be happy that we will re-join a FUNCTIONING Somalia under a 'federal system'. Our seccesionists will be happy we don't need to be tied to the hip of the dysfunctional capital and enjoy nation state status for 99 years. Plus we get to eat 'both' ways in the event PL fails, we can rejoin the south, in the event the south is failing, we enjoy our independence. That is the 'art' of politics, is to win no matter what side the future goes and that's why 'extreme' solutions or 'one' sided solutions never win the future like HAGS/SNM.

@DR OSMAN , if we became country, next day small HG clans and others will rush to us. For our own sake let we help south to free their lands before each one goes to his own way.
