Somaliland is already gone. It just needs to be recognized. The US is holding it back because it has security interests in the south otherwise it would have been over a long time ago. It could end at any minute.

The AU came round to it after the prolonged state collapse but then US interests post ICU have put a halt on it for the time being but who knows, it's just a policy decision that can change.
