Puntland's Forensic Bureau was launched in 2017 and till now, is the only Forensic department in all of Somalia. This is not acceptable, at this point every major city in all Federal States needs its own department. They need to be independent from Police Stations to minimise corruption.

I actually think that all Somalis need to register their DNA and fingerprints with Somali Forensic Centres, so that cases like this are easier to be resolved. I know some people will balk at this, but people give their DNA and fingerprints to their doctor, use their mobile phone or to analyse their ancestry, lol.

We also need these samples from foreign migrants who enter the country. I know this seems draconian, but at this stage, Somalia needs such measures to achieve a certain level of security.

I know some Arab Nations that make you give your fingerprint before entering.

Somali Society emboldens and protects rapists, did you see the topic about a Somali woman being attacked by Somalis in Somalia, for pointing out that rape can happen within a marriage?
There is a serious lack of awareness and empathy towards women, female anatomy and the rights and feelings of women. This is why a bunch of Somali 'elders' easily sit under an acacia tree and exchange money for rape.

Somalis don't admit to rape, nor do most Somali rape victims report rape. In fact, rape was rampant during the Siad Barre dictatorship, with the dictator's own male family members committing rapes and getting away with it. Women could not go to the beach in Mogadishu without fearing rape.

I think if Somalia really investigated sexual assault/molestation in Somalia by surveying girls/women and even boys, we would be shocked at how prevalent it is.

This coupled up with closing the gun black market in big cities..We need tough state sponsored gun regulation laws

Rich Arab countries are smart, they make you register your mobile number and internet router to your fingerprint. Without this you cannot browse the internet or use your mobile phone.

Do you know how much harder it would be for Somali criminals and terrorists to operate if this was implemented? If there was also a robust intelligence network that cracked down on black market mobile/internet providers.

I'd go a step further and make people register their bank account, mobile phone, internet to their fingerprint/ID card. This means that if they try anything shady, it's all linked.
If people are happy to give snapchat their facial data, surely they can give it up for their Nation's Security.

How would AlShaydan send people money, if they weren't using Somali transfer/bank accounts?
All of this needs to be shut down.
I believe most humans don't respect Allah let alone human laws, they only understand fear and repercussions.

We also need autosopies to determine how people died, we need police departments collecting not only DNA, bullet shells so they can be tested and kept and compared against a criminal gun. We need fingerprints collected, we need a database of criminals and records kept and accessible to the public.

We need to register all legal guns and anyone caught without a gun-permit is jailed.

Then so be it. I have no particular a priori support for a state that condones rape of women. If Puntland is protecting their women against these heinous crimes then I support it a 100%.

Great job Puntland this is desperately needed in all of Somalia. This way victims can anonomously submit the evidence and boom! The rapist is apprehended without any clan or elderly intervention.
