Not a Somali but think about it. Eritrea has the same ethnicities religion and history as Ethiopia. North and South Korea, China and Taiwan are the exact same people. The merits of independence are about what the local people desire and has nothing to do with connections with other countries.

There are various documents that verify and prove that the unity was was not complete and the fact that they signed two different treaties says very much. South passed one treaty and the north passed another.

You'd think Somalia has sovereignty to stop for example the deals Somaliland has made with the UAE but they can't in fact if they were EVER so stupid to take it to international court it would be a big slap in the face for Somalia. As Somaliland would win any legal claim they forwarded. Lucky for Somalia, Somaliland can't take Somalia to court.

There is a case to be made against SL independence but this isn't it, because I could turn around and say the exact same things about Djibouti. If you are consistent, you'll say whats the point of them being an independent nation either since they are ethnic Somalis so they should turn around and join Somalia.

There are many ethnic groups that have multiple nations. The Arabs have more than 20 countries. Should they all unite based on that alone?

The argument for being stronger together against foreign influence and meddling is about the only decent point you made. The cynic in me also says that you should just forget about Somalia Galbeed and NFD and focus stabilizing the south first for now. Somaliland - Somalia will probably reconcile at such point when the IC deems both sides are ready. It's most likely going to be under a federal model anyways so Somaliland has achieved its purpose in my opinion. A unitary state will never work for Somalis and more and more are realizing this everyday.

You are in denial, any country that has complete sovereignty would simply put sanctions on the area. How come Somalia has not even taken it to court??

I'm not saying Somalia doesn't have sovereignty but they do not have sovereignty over Somaliland that they can back up in international court.

You think Al-Shabaab can stop an international court session that is outside Somalia? Come on now.

Arab world is far more different than Somaliweyn. The Arab world is split between North Africans who have berber origins; Leventines who have phoenician/ancient greek & Assyrian origins and gulf arabs(including Egypt) who are the real arabs, plus they have very different dialects etc. However, Somalis have no real difference between them & only have minor regional differences. Arab world will never unite.
