Proud American
He was a Murtad who failed in every way imaginable; economically, politically militarily etc. Who got humiliated by fleeing the country in Female clothing and dying on a toilet in foreign soil. The only ones who praise the Murtad are langaabs like his clansmen and the minorities:silanyolaugh:
what did he change? the Somali Republic under Afweyne's Kacaan was one of the least developed countries in the world. :russ:

The Somali Republic was a beggar state, completely reliant on foreign aid, whether it was financial, humanitarian or military. Imagine being proud of being an aid recipient!
:damn::feedme:

Now just to quantify Afweyne's ineptitude and failure, understand this, the Somali Republic was the largest per head recipient of aid in all of Africa!
Now, how did all of this aid materials on the ground:

Reality check. The World Bank:

Between 1970 (one year after Afweyne's coup) and 1980, there was no real growth in per capita income.

The Kacaan's economic performance was abysmal, records show it lagged behind sub-Saharan Africa for its entire reign.

The picture becomes very clear if we look at GDPs of regional economies at the time we see in comparison to the Afweyne's kacaan

Tanzania: $10.4 Billion
Ethiopia: $8.9 Billion
Kenya $8.5 Billion
Uganda: $7.4 Billion
Gabon: $3.7 Billion
Papua: New Guinea $3.9 Billion
Gabon: $3.7 Billion
Zambia: $3.7 Billion
Madagascar: $3.5 Billion
Senegal: $2.8 Billion
Malawi: $2.1 Billion
Somali Republic: 1.3 Billion
:feedme:

Tanzania's GDP was almost 10X that of the Afweyne's Somali Republic! Zambia was almost 3X! Absolutely abysmal figures a

The story is not different when we look at GDP per capita:

Gabon: $4619
Papua New Guinea: $1215
Uganda: $601
Zambia: $562
Tanzania: $513
Senegal: $449
Kenya: $484
Madagascar: $371
Malawi: $298
Somali Republic: $250

But, objectively speaking, for all other Somalis, the Kacaan was a disaster

@popoff facts about Siad Barre:
  • He had weird gibberish like accent. Some still doubt he was Somali and not Oromo.
  • He was an evil man.
  • There was story about him and his mysterious bond with Jinn. Some say his soul was possessed over the last 13 years of his life.
  • Some say he wasn't a Muslim. It's believable considering how he denounced the Qur'an in public and declared his undying affection for Marxism.
  • Some conspiracy theorists say that he had consensual relationship with a horse?!! :dwill: the dude was a freak no doubt about that.

I think we should avoid these topics for the time being, talking about prominent/controversial figures from the past invites nothing but further division. We have a job to do now and we need to focus on unity and fixing our home :)

So ok guys let me get to my question. I am being genuine here so please easy on me . Educate me. when said barre is talk about people either love him or hate him? give me a lesson.
My only problem with anti siad opposition is that they failed to form a government after Siad left power.
Siad had many positive and negative sides, but his opposers were much worse and destroy the country. As soon as the Siad governement fell the moryaan militia turned on each other and they started looting all national properties.
You hate Siad Barre? Fine, but why destroy your own country and loot banks , public buildings etc?
If the opposition agreed on a new president nobody would have said anything and we would have forgotten Siad. The main reason why some people love Siad is simple, he said that somalia would fall apart if he lost power and this came to be true. The opposition proved him right

Trust me I know how popular he is. Most of my dad side risked their life to overthrow him and my mums family will literally burn you alive if you don’t address him as supreme aabe siyad so trust me I know he’s popular but not by the big clans by minorities or less relevant clans in xamar like benadiri or mursode
Xawaadle aren't a big clan by any means but they absolutely despise him, I think there's more to it than small or big clans.

Siad Barre was a leader who only took orders from himself. He turned our country into an African superpower and help establish many unions throughout the african continent.

You can hate me for it I could care less, but it makes me chuckle when people compare him to Farmajo. Show some respect, theres is only one Barre
