I agree, but right now it is a melting pot so it makes sense that people claim to be English even if they have different ancestries.
The guy never said he is white or ethnically english, he just said he considers himself part of the english experience.

The Anglo-Saxon invasion was vast and they actively killed the Celts and made them move West (Wales). The English have huge Danish/Northwest German origins, but they also have some Celtic roots from mixing with some of the England Celts.
