I heard HG's came by busloads to Xamar in '89 and after. There were plenty of Isaaqs born in Xamar from independence period onwards (post 1960) who have more of a claim to Xamar than they do.

My family have always lived there, Xamar has always been synonymous with Hawiye throughout history and now we're newcomers apprently...

I am not saying your family didn't live there. But Xamar is associated with Abgaal even in the north. I have never heard it referred to as a Hawiye city.

It is like Hargeisa where Habar Jeclo didn't live there at all pre 1991. They still aren't considered Reer Hargeisa even today.

Habar gidir have nothing to do with xamar, which is why they constantly pull the "muh hawiye" card. Abgaal and mursade are the only ones with actual history in xamar.
