Salaxaad turns to agriculture

We may be politically marginalized and ethnically targeted but we are the 2nd major community in Raayitu. Raayitu as of right now is a small town and only cities big as Harar or Dir Dhaba can be considered charter. Oromos are majority of the town but the district of Rayitu has a lot of Somali villages and population.
Raayitu is a district and the Somali community you are talking about recently came to the district with the help of Somali liyuu they are shekhaal the district was always inhabited by the Raayitu clan

Looks like this conversation will not go anywhere even if we go back and forth with the claims. Let me return to the original context of this thread. Salamaat.

The Oromo had more political power than the Somalis in 1995 so the border was set at the Shabelle river. Legally speaking Salaxaad and Lagahida are both inside the borders of Bale Zone of Oromia. These two Somali woredas are 65 km inside Bale Zone.

The OLF could have drawn a true ethnic border based on language between Oromia and DDSI. This kind of border would have prevented thousands of deaths over the past 28 years.

Unfortunatly they chose to take advantage of Somalis’ relative weakness and made huge maximalist claims. There will now always be a territorial dispute between Somali and Oromo.

On the fake maps posted by Ethiopian authorities they claim it as oromia but on the grounds they are administered by the Somali state. The people of this region have resisted Oromos claims to our land for many years starting in 2007. That is why the oromia administration has more success in dislodging Somalis from so called Haraghe region because they know the Somalis & Ogaden living in Bale region put up more of a resistance and public outrage to defend their homelands.

Clearly Gadabursi are the biggest farmers in Faafan because they make up the majority of the region. Even if Wajaale town that GB share with Isaaq is deducted from that 84k out of the 480k, approximately 90%+ of the district is cultivated regardless.

Jidwaaq the most districts? Apart from Jigjiga district which is only approximately 60% Somali and further settled by others like Dir and Isaaq, they have Qabri-Bayax district with the representation split 3 ways in the local council there with 10 Jidwaaq, 7 Isaaq and 2 Akisho. Isaaq even dominate that district with the biggest farming town Harta Sheekh.

They can claim it all they like but they know Ogaden won’t let them get away with it if they try anything. Unfortunately, the pressure the smaller clans in the area instead

Salaxaad would be top tourist destination in the region if it had modern roads built

SRTV posts some good videos on farming developments in the different regions. I believe Somali region as a whole is planned to cultivate 847000 hectares.

We should be food sufficient soon we just need more investments in rain and riverwater collection/distribution.
