Alhamdulilah it’s still in government hands but these offensives are being won despite the military leadership not because of them.

They have no plan beyond moving into areas Shabaab leave, stopping there and leaving massive whole in the front line and not clearing out the countryside, too few troops. So always vulnerable to attack.

Taking their Garrisons is a good strategy, they can be flushed out of the countryside once they have nowhere to run.

That makes sense but then the Ceelbuur front was stopped. So they still have somehwere to launch from and manufacture their bombs. So the countryside is very important

right now the troops are spread thin and are in a defensive position. The sooner the troops can move in to Ceelbuur the better

Hormud cut off the line so soilders didn’t know what hit them. Even during the attack they couldn’t call each other to know of each others whereabouts and what the orders are from their upperman. Attack came from the north near derri direction but they managed to surround them apparently. Not much you can do when your getting attacked and your phone has no signal

I doubt it. 2016 Ceelbuur was captured by ASWJ+Ethiopia. It wasn’t a homegrown operation and the forces there was continuously ambushed by a hostile civilian population

This time around Shabaab has no routes in or roads out of it. So won’t be able to resupply once they’re defeated there. All Waceysle, HG, Xawadle land has been liberated and there will be a big focus on stabilisation the populations living there. Whether that’s disarming, de-radicalisation, major investment etc.
