Thank goodness the city I grew up in is 80% Isa, Gadabursi and Majerteen (although Majerteen is a little more conservative than the former two), the ilbaax liberal clans. It definently makes a difference which subclans you live with as to what experiences you end up having. A 20,000+ community that produced no terrorists, no extremism, a model of Somalis integrating, the most successful, and the most open minded. I credit this to French colonialism.

If only I grew up in Quebec, almost 100% Isa, the world's most liberal Somali community. The things I have seen there would make many heads here explode. They are small but mighty, and I plan to join them soon.

What city is that?

How do you guys find out somebody’s tribe?

I’ve never had that brought in a conversation before. Unless you were to straight up ask which would be weird. Accents don’t really determine because anybody could be from any region technically.

Nobody asks tribe. But they ask from what region you come from. Right now allot of new somalis have immigrated to holland espacially Amsterdam and when iam walking with my headphones outside and a somali guy walks past me they want to have a small talk because they are new in the country and they assume iam from xamar like most of them
