I will never respect a person who is spreading shirk in our country. This Xidig guy wrote a book defending Qisada al Burah, a poem with shirk in it. Here is a passage.

" O noblest of creation, I have no one but you to turn to except you when major calamity strikes."
Noblest of creation is referring to Prophet Muhammad peace upon him

"This world and the Hereafter are part of what you control, and part of your knowledge is the knowledge of al-Lawh al-Mahfooz and the Pen"

I don't know much about sheikh xidig. But one of the signs of a very righteous scholar in islam that is universally acknowledged. Is that huge numbers of people come to their funeral. Look at how mnay tens of thousands came to sheikh xidigs funeral. Second qasidah burdah is one of the most famous islamic poems. The fact that people have been reciting it for several centuries all over the world is a sign of its barakah.

90% of the masjids in the UK and at least 50% of the masjid in , etc are build by the south Asian community who are overwhelmingly Deoband. They would not have been that successfull if they were misguided.
