Ibn Taymiyyah allowed that sort of thing if someone insulted Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I'm not saying I agree or don't agree with that view.

I don't really have an opinion. If someone insults someone's mother or calls someone the n word and gets beat up... I don't think I agree with violence but I don't really feel bad for that person. If someone got punched for insulting the sahaabah... I'm not sure I agree or not but I wouldn't feel bad for them.

Some scholars have said voting is ok in certain situations like that... I personally don't agree with voting. The candidate can say whatever and then not do any of what he says he'll do, even if he says he's going to promote shariah or do something for Muslims.

You're using examples that are not connected to what I said. I'm specifically talking about this guy's violent threats. It's easy to see that it's wrong. Additionally, if you live in a foreign land, even if you disagree with certain accepted behaviors, you are still expected to follow the laws of the land. It is wrong to attack a person for what he believes. Al-Shabaab claims that they are Sunni, why are they massacring our people since we are 100% Sunni. Extremism is an enemy to the all mandkind . I remember that last month in Pakistan a suicade bombe blew up in a mosque and killed 150 people, all of whom were Sunnis.

Years ago, I met this Shia guy at work. He told me, he doesn't pray the 5 time salahs, only praying three salahs. When I asked him why, he said its because, he is Ahlulbayt, and that Ali (RA) will intercede for him on day of judgment.

I still think about that bizarre interaction years on.
