Yes it is haram at the very least
You can vote if it’s for the betterment of the Muslim community. Voting for the purpose of freedom of religon, stoping wars etc as long as you believe the sharia is superior. This mentality keeps the Muslim world in the Stone Age

How do you think muslims should encate change that they want to see in a gaal nation. Do you expect us to grab guns and storm the capitol. Obviously thats stupid. We are citizens of a secular nation like it or not. We have to follow the laws of the land.

@Djokovic It seems like you're working with a sense of urgency, like an agent on a deadline. However, if you don't catch any extremists by the end of your shift, you'll have to report your failure to your superiors. Perhaps you could benefit from some training on how to bait extremists in a more intellectual manner, which could help them reveal themselves more easily. Additionally, this forum may not be the best place to catch extremists. You may have better luck on the Ummah forum.

Voting is wrong. The scholars have warned against it.

The one who understands the true nature of the democratic system and the ruling thereon, then he nominates himself or someone else (for election) is approving of this system, and is working with it, is in grave danger, because the democratic system is contrary to Islam and approving of it and participating in it are actions that imply apostasy and being beyond the pale of Islam.

But as for the one who nominates himself or nominates others in this system in order to join the parliament and enjoin good and forbid evil, and establish proof against them, and reduce its evil and corruption as much as he can, so that people of corruption and disbelievers in Allaah will not have free rein to spread mischief in the land and spoil people’s worldly interests and religious commitment, this is a matter that is subject to ijtihaad, according to the interests that it is hoped will be served by that.

Some scholars are even of the view that getting involved in these elections is obligatory. “

Sheikh Muqbil said that Sheikh Uthaymeen (who gets quoted in the link) made a mistake in allowing voting. I am of Sheikh Muqbil's opinion.

Also I consider Sheikh Fawzan much more reliable than the person behind IslamQA. but even according to IslamQA: "Whoever wants to be on the safe side and abstain from voting is allowed to do so."
