Ideally, they should return the valuable cultural artefacts to their respective peoples but realistically the Europeans and this includes the British won't do that.

Having those historical artefacts generates income for the museums around the West, so giving it back isn't really an option. Plus, the West will take better care of it than Africans ever will.

Knowing how politically unstable Africa is, it wouldn't take long before a tribal militia loots a local museum and confiscates all the artefacts that was returned to sell them in the black market.

Return it why? It's safer in Europe. They take good care of and have immense respect for artifacts and treasure. They put it in museums with security and police looking over it. In Africa, someone will sell it in the black market.

The Swahili coast has some nice artifacts as well, but since they stem from the Islamic era, it is unlikely to be destroyed there.

Maghrebis are apparently one of the most liberal Muslims. Weirdly the Maghrebis in Europe are often more traditionalist than the Maghrebis in the Maghreb. Even China and Russia have sanctions against North Korea. Almost all sanctions pertain to their nuclear weapons program. Let's be honest when reporting information. The only unfair sanctions are on Iran and Cuba. Only they can blame whitey.

Many Somalis have called for the lifting of the arms embargo. I vehemently disagree. Sometimes these decisions are made in the interest of the people of that country.
