Sissi works to forge an anti-Ethiopian front

Egypt only wants to use Somalia as a proxy in its conflict with Ethiopia. Egypt does not have our interests at heart, therefore we should remain neutral in that conflict.

We should negotiate with Ethiopia on how to share the Shebelle & Jubba rivers. However, if nothing comes to fruition then we can form a temporary alliance with the Egyptians to weaken the Ethiopians if they do not come to an agreement us on the Jubba & Shebelle rivers.
The entirety of Shabelle and Jubba belong to Somalis I won't share what is mine by right.

To be honest, it originates in the highlands of Oromia. :francis:

The source of the river is in Oromia sxb. Most of the River is in Somaliweyne, but our current borders don't reflect it. We need to be pragmatic for now & make sure the river is utilised effectively by our people through negotiations. When we regain our military prestige, only then can we capture both the rivers.

To be honest, the Jubba river can only be dammed in Somaliweyne. It's actually 3 rivers that form as one near the Somalia - Kenya - Ethiopia border. The main river, Ganale, goes through flat lowland in Somali Galbeed but through mountainous terrain in Oromia(making it very hard to dam, and the river banks are also not fertile).

The Shabelle river can be dammed though, which is the breadbasket of Somalia at the moment.

Sxb Somalis are getting abused in our own regions for years, when we get back for the deeds done against us we want what's ours + rent, mount Amhara will suffice as payment.

I'm not sure if someone already mentioned this since I hadn't read every single response here.

Expecting egypt to be able to project power in Africa when it can't even defend its own backyard.

They had to beg Israel for the sinai territory back in 1979 and also lost to them when they were only a rag tag group of militiamen in 1948

Only the Jubba is a real river. The Shabelle is more like a creek.
Whatever it is, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle and Hiiran depend on it and in effect, Xamar. Through reforestation and rainwater catchments, the river flow could potentially be doubled.

Somalia is really only meant for max 10 million people. If they go up to 50 million at the end of this century it will never prosper.

I disagree, Balcad alone could potentially feed 12 million people if probably developed and irrigated. That's just one town in Middle Shabelle.

I would say that around 80-100 million people sounds about right with modern farming techniques/technology. :sass2:

Australia has proportionally a similar desert to fertile land ratio as Somalia and their population density is 3.1 while Somalia already is at 18.

There are already enough people in Somalia. Any more and it will just lead to poverty. Somalia is not the type of country for high population density.

I'm merely talking about how many people Somalia could potentially feed.

Prior to civil war, a dam was being built on the Jubba river in Baardheere, and the Chinese company said that at least 5 million people should be settled here due to the fertility of the soil.

The entire Jubbaland doesn't exceed 1 million in population, and they were suggesting 5 million people in one city?

US states with a similar-ish climate to Somalia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Mexico
New Mexico - 6.62/km2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada
Nevada - 10.3/km2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona
Arizona - 22/km2
We are full. Somalia cannot have more than ~10 million without being a shithole.:manny:
