Somali Cultural Clothing are the new fashion 'Trend' for African women.

Their baatis are nice. I nees to know where they're buying them at least. I own only a few.

It's a little odd to me. The concept of baati parties is nice but I really like the west african versions of baati. They're beautiful. I don't see why they'd do this.

Because Somali women are not wearing West African dresses. The truth is, when they wear Somali clothes, they are inspired by how Somali women look whilst wearing it.

@Farah717
While other African women are cosplaying as somali girls, other Africans/black people are mocking Somali men. I guess that’s the difference between representing your culture’s beauty with pride and being a clown at the expense of your people.

If other African women don’t credit us, it’s out of jealousy
I could care less what people think that's the difference. If they try to clown us.

They will insult and drag us until the cows come home on the one hand and then rip off our history, culture and traditions and everything else as theirs or Arabs or β€œEast African culture” when it’s really only us.

NONE of them ever had 'baati parties' or wore it at home like that. Except for the ones who more recently adopted our clothes in East Africa. But even they didn't post about "baati parties" or wore it outside of their homes in the Western hemisphere.

The global impact of Somali women is truly underrated.
I’ve accepted it, no matter how many things of our culture they’ll emulate they’ll never truly be a somali qoor dheer quruxley. Let them fight like hyenas to be us :trumpsmirk:

How did you get that Trump picture up in the post? I've been wanting to know where everyone's getting these same pictures from for a while now. Is it pre downloaded?

You press the three dots in the index area and then press the smiley face button and there’s a lot of options to choose from!

That's why I am less annoyed, because I've not seen any group outshine Somali girls in their attire. Often, it looks sloppy, weird and items are missing.

I wish they all knew how beautiful and regal they looked in their own clothing.

Source or was this in your real life? That's pushing it.
I saw it on TikTok. I’ll try to find the video and post it on here but wallahi she was wearing a dirac. You’ll never catch a Somali woman wearing Oromo clothes talking about some β€œSomali culture day”

They want the beauty of our somali culture but won’t acknowledge who they’re imitating. They admire the culture but feel insecure and resentful that they like it. They want what our culture has. Haven’t you noticed every time Somali girls are respectful and ask for credit they get defensive?

Admitting they’re copying us means they’re acknowledging the fact that they look up to us in terms of influence and it means they’re uplifting our culture. They don’t want to do that. Admitting it also means they can’t pretend that they’re better than us anymore.

just a piece of cloth
I don’t like meddling in female topics but this isn’t a β€œpiece of cloth” it represents culture. You’d go batsh*t crazy if we adopted or stole other people’s clothes and call us out.

Look how the Subeciyad/Alindi fabric has been hijacked by Oromos and Swahilis.

Baati and Dirac attest to our craftsmanship and creativity. They’re dhaqan.
