I don’t think the rendille and other south cushites can be grouped as proto somaloid, pre samaale clans probably reached north eastern Kenya around the 8-9th century and from there on were reinforced by various waves of Somali movement coming from the north in the following centuries.

As for the rendille they’re south cushite remnants who’ve been in those lands way before the Somali arrival, due to misinformation about them, a lot of them have been facing assimilation and they themselves have begun believing this “ reer diinle” drivel. They aren’t and have never been Somali.
