Did prayers protect Somalis from droughts and starvation? NO. Either God isn’t interested in us or he wants us to pursue another alternative. You can’t do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. The prof is right. How about if the world stops sending aid next time we had draught and famine and keep praying to be alleviated by god?
You're right, Somalia would have a population collapse and mass migration like never seen before if foreign aid were cut off completely.
At a certain point you have got to assess the situation around you and come to the realization that some drastic needs to be done or the story will keep repeating itself.
Instead, they will pray for rain, it won't rain for a month and when it finally does they are like 'look my prayer worked'.
