My uncle told me that in the past Somalis never lived in the coast for fear of Jinns and other superstitious reasons and that only in recent centuries did they start living in the coast. I don't know how true this is, but u don't think it is.

you are wrong,very wrong my friend,Horn of africa is one of the most hostile environments in the world and having to live in a coast where you can fish for food during the famine-draught is one of the most important sources of food.somalis would not have survived with out the coast.
southern somalis is one of the few places where you have agri-fisheries side by side
