My humble political analysis says that this is because people have learnt their lesson about backing unknown candidates.

HSM, Farmaajo and Sheikh Shariif are the devil you know. Deni is to an extent whereas AAW isn’t.

AAW has a character that no decent Somali would support. Everything that he used to oppose Farmaajo was clannish. Besides, he is the same guy who signed-off Somalia's maritime coast. Every Somali who was paying attention knows him.
