They should leave whether they cancel the MOU or not
I found a statement by Qatar that makes no mention of the matter. Can't find another statements by the other members.
We have recent statements by the US State Department and US military leaders both positive about Ethiopia's role in Somalia's security, so this seems counter.
As long as Ethiopia and the previous African countries aren't apart of it I'm not too worried. So far, only Egypt and Djibouti are apart of the new mission.Anyone who hasn’t should read about AUSSOM and their intentions for Somalia. They are going to be more hands on with Somalia diplomatically and they plan to stay MUCH longer than atmis which was just a transition. Reer xamar aren’t shy of foreigners except for Ethiopia so for them it might be something to celebrate, but for me, it’s bad news.
The US is speaking facts. They know that the FGS doesn't have the neccecary troops to keep Baay Bakool and Gedo Shabaab free if Ethios leave. They are spot on about there being a gap in the security in the region.More information:
The US Ambassador to UN at the UNSC meeting today on the situation in Somalia made this statement:

Neither the US nor the UN can force Somalia to host the troops of a country that has made clear its intention to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. If Culusow says Ethiopia must leave Somalia, they have to leave Somalia. If Culusow says leave and they don't, the only path open to Somalia is war.
Of course this is all theoretical. The MOU is dead and Ethiopia poses no danger to Somalia. If there was a serious danger to Somalia's sovereignty & territorial integrity, Culusow would have reconciled with Puntland in January.
That is why the Egyptians are coming there. It doesn't matter to America who is parked in KGS as long as they are apart of the peacekeeping mission. Ethiopia is furious about being replaced by Egypt.hey are spot on about there being a gap in the security in the region.

Doesn't matter. Egypt's request to join AUSSOM has already been accepted by the U.S and UN. Why hasn't the same been done with Ethiopia? That's right, because Somalia says they don't want them. Best case scenario for Ethiopia is to keep some unauthorized troops in Gedo but those could be swiftly kicked out anyways.View attachment 344680
Completely wrong as usual. The US line appears to be Somalian tensions with Ethiopia is no excuse for changing Ethiopia out for Egypt or anyone else. Begggar can't be choosers no matter how hard you cry.

Egypt has more or less checkmated Ethiopia at this point. Not only will Egyptian troops be situated directly near Ethiopia's borders, but all its neighbors are on Egypt's side or leaning towards Egypt. Habashis are fucked.
Already accepted by the AU aka UN proxy organization and confirmed by El-Sisi.Hasn't though.

Hypothetically what could Somali do if Ethiopia refused to leave. I genuinely believe the FGS would fold. They fear becoming a failed state more than keeping there sovereignty.Neither the US nor the UN can force Somalia to host the troops of a country that has made clear its intention to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. They very much did. Otherwise Egypt wouldn't be sending weapons to Somalia, another act that was obviously sanctioned by America. The AU doesn't authorize the mission and they only welcomed the offer - they didn't say they accepted the offer.

The US made their position clear on 2 occasions now they used the same language about not replacing Troop contributing countries.
