There were many spies, you'd be surprised how many spies from different clans were his biggest supporters including Isaaq, Hawiye, Darood (non-MOD), etc. but that still doesn't mean that their clan grievances aren't valid. There are always a few spineless folks in every clan.

My father is pro-Puntland (to a larger extent Somali weyn), my mother is pro-Somaliland independence.

They have a good understanding and politics does not get in the way of that, when you have respect and understanding in your marriage politics and countries doesn't matter. They just agree to disagree being that she believes in S/Land independence and my dad's from Sanaag and he believes in greater Somalia.

We used to go as a family every summer to Hargeisa and he supported that for the sake of my mom. You can see past petty politics if you support each other as man and wife.
